Derrinturn Community Garden was started in 2010 on an unused piece of ground owned by the parish.

The main focus of the community garden is to create an amenity in the parish for everyone to use and enjoy. A lot of work has been carried out over the last few years and now the garden has several raised beds growing a variety of vegetables and flowers, two polytunnels with bumper crops and a large area for potatoes. Children from the local school are very involved in the garden, with several classes growing their own vegetables and making scarecrows. One group of volunteers meet regularly to maintain the garden. When the crops are ready to harvest, everyone helps themselves to the produce. If you are interested in having a plentiful supply of fresh vegetables and lots of fun, do consider joining the group. All new members are very welcome. Drop into the garden anytime or phone Marie on 086 0740719
