St. Brigid’s Day Crosses made by St Brigids National School, Ticknevin, will be available for sale at masses this weekend on Saturday 28^th and Sunday 29^th of January our church in Derrinturn. All monies raised will go towards school funds.

The St. Brigid’s Cross was traditionally believed to protect the house from fire and disease.

As people hung up the cross they said this prayer: “May the blessing of God and the Trinity be on this cross, and on the home where it hangs and on everyone who looks at it.”
