COVID-19 Diocesan Update:

Chrism Mass: This is the day I so much look forward to every year, our celebration of the Chrism Mass. It always is such a super gathering of priests and lay people from all our parishes. It will be different this year, but it’s important it happens as it shows the life and cycle of the diocese continues even in very strange and unchartered times. I very much hope you will be able to remotely join with me at the Mass, beginning at 7.30pm. It will be broadcast live on the KandLe Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/KANDLEi/ and on the iCatholic YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCm2Y6Wwq6qg8qUr6XLiYx7g or you can also check in on the Cathedral webcam http://www.carlowcathedral.ie/webcam/. It can also be watched directly through our homepage.
I will very much have you in my prayers tonight and I ask you to hold me in yours.

A word of sincere thanks to Funeral Directors: Please pass on my appreciation and thanks to the local funeral directors for their much commented upon sensitivity around funerals at this time. It is noted and deeply appreciated. This is a highly sensitive time for families and all funerals – COVID-19 and non COVID-19 – are impacted hugely by the current restrictive environment.

I know this is a very different Holy Week for all of us. I deeply appreciate the cooperation and support of all in these difficult days. Let us remain calm, look after one another and those we care for. While the ceremonies will all be held behind closed doors, the faith we profess challenges us all the more this year to care for the most vulnerable and most broken. It’s in His shadow we walk these days and I firmly believe He is carrying us along the way, particularly at this time.

Every blessing for Holy Week,
+Denis
